The chart below gives information about car ownership in the UK from 1975 to 2005 (percentage)
The given illustration depicts the changes in ownership of cars in the United Kingdom between 1975 and 2005. It is clear from the graph that the citizens of the UK gradually possessed more cars over the years, particularly during the period from 1975 to 1985.
In the 10-year span since 1975, an abrupt slump of roughly 18% could be observed in the number of people who did not own any personal car. Meanwhile, although both the portion of people who had 2 cars and who had 3 cars experienced an insignificant growth, owning one car was still the most preferred option for the UK population of that time.
From 1985 onward, the percentage of citizens not having any car continued to drop modestly by 2% in 2005. Following an opposite trend, car ownership rose approximately 5% among all categories of vehicle quantity during the interval between 1985 and 2005, with one still being the car quantity which most of the population possessed.
