Wilderness management has advanced greatly over the last century due in part to such practices as the suppression of forest fires and limitations on the clear cutting of trees Monitoring forests for small brushfires is easier with aircraft as is the

The article states that, fire suppression is necessary in wilderness management. And provides three reasons of support. However, the professor explains that fire suppression is not beneficial for the young plants or the animals. In addition, professor refutes each of the author's reason.

First, the reading claims that fire suppression is the best solution on destruction of trees. Furthermore, by this not only trees are saved but they will grow big and healthy. The professor refutes this point by saying that an old tree disturb small plants growth. Because of thick canopy at top, small plants are not able to get sunlight and it affects their growth.

Second, the article posits that by suppressing the fire, some plants at the ground level like vines and bushes get life and can save wild life. However, professor states that fire suppression lead to the growth of vines and shrubs which can easily get burns in fire. And leaves big space to grow bigger tree. According to the professor, if some plants gets burn they release some nutrients on soil and it's beneficial for small plants which can grow bigger.

Third, reading states that animal lives can be saved by suppressing the fire. And more animals like deer and bears can survive without fear. The professor opposes this point. He states that population of deer has been increased in last several years and that is a problem for small oak tree seedlings. After lot of struggle like less sunlight, less area to grow if seedling is trying to survive these growing population of deer is eating all leaves of small plants.
