Allergy
In human life, food and health are very important to keep alive. However, there are many allergic diseases affect people in US. Last week, I went to a friend’s birthday party at the seafood restaurant. I got the seafood allergy because I ate a lot of crawfishes in that restaurant. I had many rashes and itching on my skin. “More than 50 million Americans have experienced various types of allergies each year and Allergies are the 6th leading cause of chronic illness in the U.S.” (Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America) There are many causes of allergy, such as food allergy, pollen allergy, and pet allergy.
First, food allergy is very popular in America. “More than 1 in 10 US adults has a food allergy.” (Thomas) The most common food allergies are shellfish, fish, milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, and wheat. There are many symptoms affect patients within minutes or hours later, and they include: itchy rash, hives, diarrhea, vomiting, and swelling of tongue. Many people do not know what food they are allergic until they eat them. Therefore, people should know type of allergic food to avoid. If the symptoms of an allergic reactions become worse, antihistamines medicine such as Benadryl or Zyrtec may help reduce symptoms. Besides, some home remedies can help to reduce allergy reactions. For example, my mom made perilla leaves as food and black beans as drink to reduce my symptoms last week. Especially, if the baby has a risk of food allergy, breastfeeding is recommended until 2 years of age. In short, food is a significant cause of allergy.
Not only food allergy but also pollen allergy is common in US. The pollen allergy starts early in March which is the beginning of Spring. The most pollen allergy comes from trees, flowers, grasses, and weeds. They affect people with numerous symptoms include: sneezing, stuffy nose, itchy, red eyes, and runny nose. For example, I allergy to oak pollen every year in March. It makes me itchy eyes, runny nose, and sneezing. Pollen allergy has a bad influence on me because it makes me tired at work and school. There are many solutions to reduce the effect of pollen allergy, such as: wear mask when people want to go out, close the doors and windows, take a shower before going to bed. If pollen allergy affects seriously in daily life, Benadryl or Zyrtec are also help to reduce pollen allergy symptoms. In brief, pollen allergy is inconvenient since it interrupts everyday activities of people.
Last, pet allergy is also popular in America. Cats, dogs, or horses can cause of pet allergy. Allergy comes from hair, skin, fur, urine, or saliva of animal. The symptoms of pet allergy are similar with food and pollen allergy include: sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, rashes, or trouble breathing. For instance, in my country, my family let the dogs outside to keep house and avoid their hair which is a reason of allergy. The best treatment of pet allergy is keeping off pet which causes allergy. If someone really loves pets, they should let the pets outdoor. People should clean floors, carpets, bed, furniture, or clothes which has factors of allergy. Doctors can recommend Zyrtec or Benadryl to help reduce symptoms. In summary, pet allergy is also a problem in US.
Everybody has a different type of allergy, so they need to know their allergy to avoid them. The best solution is an allergy skin test and blood test which doctor determine what people are allergic to. When people take test, they discriminate between three allergies from another. If people know exactly their allergy, they will eliminate those agents. Besides, some remedies help to reduce allergy include: lemon juice with honey to detox body, clean the house to keep off pet allergy, use some herbal to block the release of food allergy.
In summary, food allergy, pollen allergy, and pet allergy are three main causes of allergy and they affect people’s activities. This problem is very popular in US and over the world. People should take the test to know their allergy, so they can prevent and treat the right way. Specially, avoiding allergy will raise quality life and make people happier.
