The chart given depicts the proportion of Australians classified into six different age categories who were committed to physical activity on a regular basis in terms of both genders in 2010.
It is clear that about a half of Australians did regular exercise. With the exception of the young people, women were more engaged in physical activity than men.
To begin with, in the youngest group, the percentage for male reached its peak at 52.8% and the female’s was at a lower degree, 47.7%. When it came to the 25-34 age bracket, nevertheless, the figure showed a surprising downward trend in the number of men exercised while that for female climbed to 48.9%. In the 35-44 and 45-54 age groups, more female enrolled in physical activity and hit the peak at 53.3%, in comparison with a drop to the lowest point at only 39.5% of its counterpart before slipping back at 43.1%.
Turning to the two remaining groups, although more men did physical activity, women showed a downward trend with a slight decrease by 0.3%. Finally, the proportion for men and women at 65 and over, 46.7% and 47.1% respectively, were identical with the least gap at 0.4%.
