The map illustrates two planned locations for the construction of a new supermarket in the town of Garlsdon, which has the population of 65,000. The general overview here is that both sites are located very near the railway, which goes through the town centre.
To specify the first possible position is situated in the Town Centre, which is surrounded by the housing area. Because there is no traffic zone in the town centre, people will have to walk to the supermarket if it is built here. On the other hand, if they set the supermarket in this position, it would be more convenient for worker in the south industry zone, which is very close to the town centre. In addition, the centre has a strong transportation link with two towns: Bransdon and Cransdon by 16 km and 25 km Main roads respectively.
In comparison, the second position is placed in the countryside, which is more spacious than the Town Centre. This location is beside the main road which is 12 km long and linked between Garlsdon and Hindon. Moreover, this place is also not far from the industry zone in the North of the Town.
In conclusion, both sites have their own advantages and disadvantages to construct a new supermarket for the town.
