At a glance, water used for agricultural purpose in most of the areas and it is used the least for domestic purpose.
In most parts of Asia, people use water for agriculture the most, the number of Central Asia and Southeast Asia are 88% and 81% respectively. This sector also consumes most of the water in Africa and South America. Meanwhile, water used for agriculture purpose only accounts for 39% of North America and 32% of Europe. However, both these two areas are known to consume most of the water for industrial use, 48% and 53% respectively. Meanwhile, water for industrial purpose only accounts for from 5% to 12% in other areas. Central Asia is the area in which water for industry accounts the least compared to others, only 5%. Household water use in South America is higher than in other parts of the world that stands at 19%. Only 7 to 9 per cent of water used in Asian and African countries for personal use at home.
