The maps below show the center of a small town called Islip as it is now and plans for its development.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The maps elucidate the state of the town center Islip in the current days and in the future. Overall, the most noticeable features added to the predicted maps are the construction of a dual carriageway and the increase of service infrastructures.
Regarding the current map, the main road is built along the center from the west to the east with estates such as shops and housing areas around. Specifically, the shops are developed in both north and south of the main road, next to a large area which is occupied for housing. This area is limited by a park and a school in the southeast and southwest, respectively. Both of these structures are connected to the main road by the two side roads.
In terms of the planned map, it can be obviously observed that the town center is covered by a circular road called a Dual carriageway. The center of the town would be developed for mere pedestrians instead of the staple road. Albeit the insignificant changes in the south of the apart from more housing areas and shrink in park’s size, the opposite situation is expected to illustrate in the north of the center. A large number of structures are predicted to construct in the future. Besides the shopping center in the middle of the parking area and bus station, a new housing area would be also introduced.
