The maps illustrate the development that took place at Queen Mary Hospital in 1960, 1980 and 2000.
Overall, Queen Mary Hospital experienced a process of modernization, turning into an urban area with more facilities. It is worth to note that in 2000 Queen Mary Hospital changed significantly than in 1960 and 1980.
Before 1980, the area only consisted of 4 sectors were the shopping centre, the hospital, the farmland and the car park. The hospital was built close to the main road and next to the shopping centre. Behind the hospital were the car park and the farmland next to the car park. In 1980. the shopping centre was demolished in order to take the place for a cancer centre and a pharmacy. Moreover, the farmland was destroyed and replaced with a nursing school. Also, other facilities stayed unchanged.
In 2000, the hospital and the pharmacy remained unchanged but car park was halved and took place for the nursing school. Furthermore, the cancer centre was extended to cover the entire the nursing school.
