The two pie charts illustrate the average household spending in Japan and Malaysia during the year 2010.
Overall, the three categories including housing, food and other goods and services was the highest commonly spent . The figure for spending on transport and healthcare in Malaysia was doubled in Japan.
It is evident that other goods and services was accounted for the highest spending of householder in Japan, which was represented 29% in the total expenditure. Whereas It was slightly higher than in Malaysia, Malaysia householders spent the highest proportion of their income on housing. It was much higher than in Japan - at 21%. In terms of food, the percetage of spending on this category in both Japan and Malaysia were 24% and 27% respectively.
While the percentage of expenditure on transport in Malaysia was 10%, this figure in Japan was twofold. The proportion of heathcare saw a similar trend, which was 3% and 6% respectively in Malaysia and Japan
