The table below gives information on consumer spending on different items in five different countries in 2002.
The table illustrates the percentage of the consumption of five types of items in five European countries in the year 2002.
It is noticeable that the largest proportion of customer spending in each country went on food, drinks, and tobacco. Meanwhile, leisure and education experienced the lowest level of customer expenditure from all five countries in 2002.
In 2002, Turkey was a country where had the highest percentage of consumer expenditure for food, drinks, and tobacco, at 32.14%. This figure was twofold higher than those shown in Italy, with an estimated 16.36%. The lowest rate of consumer spending was belonged to Sweden, at nearly 16%.
In terms of clothing and footwear consumption rate, Italy experienced the largest percentage of consumer expenditure, at approximately 9%, compared to that figure for Sweden which reached the lowest proportion, at roughly 5.4%. Also, three of the remaining countries shown the same level of customer spending on clothing and footwear, at more than 6% in 2002.
Regarding leisure and education, consumers in Turkey spent approximately 4.4% on these items whereas Spanish people tended to spend the least of their expenditure on leisure and education, which just reached an estimated of nearly 2%.
