The column graphs illustrate the changes and differences in the proportion of both genders having driving license, over a 30-year period between 1976 to 2006 and the percentage of young drivers in the 17-20 year-old group in Great Britain in the years 1996 and 2006.
Overall, what stands out from the graph is that there were upward trends in the percentage of male and female drivers. Meanwhile, regarding the proportion of young drivers, it demonstrates the opposite trend. Noticeably, the percentages of men who had car driving licenses outnumber that of women during the period.
In particular, when it comes to the proportion of men and women with driving license, the bar chart witnessed a steady increase from 30% for female drivers and 70% for male counterparts in the beginning of the period to a peak of 60%, 80% for women and men respectively in 2006. Additionally, the gap between both genders was relatively closed from 40% in 1976 to a fifth at the end of the period.
In stark contrast, in terms of young drivers at the age of 17-20, there were a slight decline in both male and female group, from 50%,45% for the former in 1996 to 30%, 20% for the latter in the following decade.
