Some people think that it is effective for student to study in a group at school, while others think it is better to study alone. Discuss and give opinion
These days, people are facing the dilemma of whether or not students should study in a group at school. Although studying alone can bring various benefits, however, in my opinion, I am in favor of the idea that group learning can sometimes be the better method of study.
Admittedly, self-studying could give students higher concentration. To be more specific, a relatively tranquil environment, such as in a library or study at home, could reduce the disturbance from others, ranging from unnecessary discussions to external distractions. Besides, for some undergraduates, especially who are unsociable or prefer independent systematic thinking, to figure out complex puzzle by searching for information on the Internet on their own or having a face-to-face conversation with their tutor seems to be more efficient option.
However, it is undeniable that more positive impacts gained by group-studying. Studying with groups of friends could be really advantageous. Learners would have the opportunities to share their personal ideas in frequent discussions. By conducting research projects with fellow scholars on campus, participants are able to benefit from a co-operative learning environment, in which many perspectives can be shared freely base on each individual’s unique backgrounds, understanding and so on. Hence, a plan which entails a wider range of angles is likely to be identified efficiently. Moreover, this method could be more time-saving when each member’s academic strengths are exerted through reasonably divided workload. For example, during the preparation of the team presentation, the tasks such as who draft the plan, who is responsible for the necessary facilities, can be allocated according to each member’s expertise or strengths.
In conclusion, taking both sides of this heated debate into consideration, I suppose that encouraging students to participate in more team projects could be beneficial for student’s future career as teamwork involves multiple tasks has become the core part of the contemporary job market.
