Africa makes up 27% of the percentage of global forest, compared with 25% and 18% recorded in the figure of that in North America and Europe, respectively. In terms of timber, a mere 9% goes to Africa while the rate of timber in Europe is 20% and North America takes the largest proportion of timber, at 30%.
Turning to the other categories, the share of world forest in South American is 16%, 2% higher than the proportion of that in Asia. This trend can also be seen when we look at the second pie chart. To be specific, South America accounts for 23% of the percentage of timber while the equivalent figure in Asia is 20%.
