The bar chart exhibited the proportions of households possessing and leasing accommodation in two particular countries: England and Wales in 1918 and the data of 93 years later.
In general, from 1910 to 2011, no matter how dramatically the figures of renters declined, the percentages of dwellers having their own shelters saw an upward trend, which proved the high demand of individuals in the early 19th century.
As can be seen from the chart, after dropping slightly by 10% from the substancial starting point of nearly 78%, in two following years, 1939 and 1953, the percentages of residents in rented stably remained. However, only after 1953 have the figures witnessed a steep plunge to approximately 33%, which reached a plateau for 2 years and then marginally increased in 2011.
Meanwhile, the proportions of individuals in possessed accommodation gradually rised by 10% from an ample of 20,3%. Stagnating as the renters, drastically did its percentages escalate to its largest proportion of 69% in 2001, followed by a minimal decrease by 4% in 2011.
