The line graph and table show the average monthly temperatures and annual hours of sunshine in three major cities.
The line graph and table illustrate the average temperatures in a month and the hours of sunshine every year in three big cities including London, New York and Sydney.
As can be seen from the line graph, the figures for London and New York’s temperatures show an upward trend around the summer months, while Sydney experiences an opposite pattern. Moreover, New York records the highest number of hours being under the sun.
In particular, the average temperature at the beginning of the year in Sydney is almost 25 degrees, compared to under 10 in London and only 5 in New York. By July, the figure for London witnesses a sixfold rise to 30 degrees. The same trend occurs in New York when the number peaks at 25 degrees, albeit with a period of slight volatility between May and July. Meanwhile, the average temperature in Sydney decreases by 10 degrees over this period.
Interestingly, from July onwards, the figure for Sydney grows steadily to over 25 degrees at the end of the year. By contrast, London and New York get colder with the figures dropping exponentially. For the former, its temperature experiences a three-period fall, first slightly by 5 degree in September, then plummets to over 5 degree in the next 2 months before ending at its January level. For the latter, the temperature gradually decreases to 10 degrees in December. It is also in this city that the time for sunshine is the highest, at 2535 hours per year, as opposed to 2473 in Sydney and 1158 in London.
