Are dinosaurs endotherms
In the passage it is evidence provided support the idea that dinosaurs are endotherms - animals such as modern birds and mammals that keep their body temperature constant. The arguments on which these evidences were made are as follows one, polar dinosaurs fossils were able to keep themselves warm in the cold harsh climate. Although the lecturer contradicted it by stating that the dinosaurs were able to sustain their body temperature by migrating to warm region were they would hibernate during the winter. Two, leg position and movement was another argument proposed by the author of the passage to suggest that dinosaurs were endotherms as many endotherms have legs beneath their body which allowed them for sustained physically activity. Though the lecturer contradicted it by stating that large legs allowed them to carry the large weight and suggested that dinosaurs weren't endotherms. Three, connection between the bone structure and endotherms, according to the author of the passage suggest that dinosaurs grew quicker with their Haversian canals - canals that house nerves and blood vessels that allow the living animal to grow quickly, is an attribute of endotherms but the opposing view of the lecturer states that there were some fossils where researchers found out Growth rings - a bone structure suggesting slowing down of growth, thus lecturer challenged the points laid out in the passage by the author.
