The map illustrates the urban condition of Langley town in 1910 and 1950 and the noticeable changes that town has undergone in this 40 year period.
Overall, the infrastructure of the town was well developed according to the modern day designs. The two main streets of town Jordan and Sherman which were isolated in earlier where connected together and new lane was introduced to provide better connectivity for commute. The townhouses on either sides of Jordan street and the houses along Sherman street and factory behind them was replaced by buildings and Sherman mansions respectively which indicates an excellent urban development by efficient utilization of spaces.
Furthermore, the wasteland besides Railway workers cottages was converted into Sherman park which consists of a children’s play area in it. Also, Café was shifted at laundry’s place and the Laundry was built behind Café where wasteland existed in 1910. Earlier just one store existed adjacent to laundry but later two new stores were added to the town besides new lane opposite to Sherman park. Moreover, the railway line which Passed through the town was removed.
In conclusion, notable developments were recorded in both residential and commercial facilities of the town within those 40 years period.
