Your friend invited you to his/her party, but you are unable to attend.
Write a letter to your friend. In your letter
•explain why you cannot come
•give your reason for not contacting your friend sooner
•suggest another time to meet
Write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write any addresses. Begin your letter as follows: Dear ____________,
Dear Amit,
I'm so happy to hear from you! Thanks for your invitation but unfortunately I won't be able to make it for your anniversary celebration.
Actually I'm travelling out of town for an important business meeting. I tried to convince my client to postpone this meeting, but he was not ready to do so. This means that I'll be travelling on the night of your event.
I'm really sorry for not getting in touch with you sooner and letting you know at the last hour. I was expecting that he would understand my position. To my surprise, he was not flexible to make the alterations. I really thought that my schedule would change and I would join you for the party.
Anyway, I will be back two days after your anniversary and was hoping to catch up with you this coming weekend. I've heard good reviews about the new restaurant at Bakers Street. Let's meet up for lunch and gossip about your party.
I want all to know about everything. Looking forward to seeing you this Saturday
Warmest regards,
John
