Essay topics:

Some people believe that children should not be given homework everyday, while others believe that they must get home work everyday in order to be successful at school. Discuss both sides and give your opinion.

The question of whether students should be assigned homework every day to perform well at school has been controversial lately. Giving or not giving homework has its advantages and disadvantages. In this essay, I will discuss both sides and present my point of view.

On the one hand, no homework provides children with a balance between studying and playing. Children are allowed to have personal life which include their families, friends, and interests. They can spend more time with their parents to strengthen the familiar relationship rather than bury themselves in books night and day. Furthermore, there are a wide variety of activities students can pursue in their spare time. Volunteering fosters their sympathy to the disabled, orphan children while participating in extracurricular activities enhances confidence, gains soft skills such as problem-solving and team working. What is more, taking up various pastimes plays a defining role in answering the question of who they are and what they want to become in the future.

On the other hand, homework or assignment are considered as a tool measuring the understanding of students on subjects. By doing homework, students apply lessons into practice which enables a deeper understanding of what they have learned. As a result, knowledge is put easily into long-term memory. Moreover, students can realize misunderstanding and find ways to deal with it. Not to mention, students who irreparably hand in a piece of homework master time management skills because they have to arrange a time to do homework to meet the deadline, which develops responsibility during their school age.

Personally, students need an appropriate amount of homework. There should be weekly assignments to have students exposed to the merits of both sides. Pupils should have a relaxed time after a long day at school so that they can refresh their minds. In addition, a piece of homework done through a period amount of time account largely for success at school.

To sum up, although there are arguments on giving or not homework, the two-point of view do good and harm in some certain ways. Students need a proper amount of assignments.
