The chart shows the results of surveys in one African country asking teenagers the main reasons for using their phones between 2016 and 2019.
The pie charts give information about some of the main purposes for phone use by young adults in an African country during the 4-year period (2016-2019).
It is clear to see that young people appear to be attracted to social networking since the total percentage of young users on social networking is far more excelling than the other three main purposes, such as email, digital camera, and phone calls. In addition, its trend appeared to rise over the period mentioned.
At the beginning of the period, social network users made up approximately 50% of the total percentage. One year later, its proportion slightly decreased by nearly 2% before rising in 2018 at 51% and peaking at 56% at the end of the period.
In comparison to the first main reason for phone use, email was seen to be less used gradually over the period, from 25% to 19%. Young people in this country seem to have fewer phone calls over the years since the proportion of this use fluctuated and reached the highest rate at 13% in 2017 before falling to 5% in 2019. The percentage of people using digital cameras on their phones was seen to stay stable in the first two years (15%) before slightly increasing to 20% (2019).
