The reading passage and the lecture, both of them are showing about the defense mechanism of golden frogs. In the reading passage, three ways are mentioned to protect the golden from getting infected by the fungus. but all of the methods have their limitations.
Firstly, the reading passage suggests that introducing a bacteria that produces some chemical can be used to protect the golden from infection. but the bacteria can't protect the golden frog for a long time. It secret chemical initially but with time they stop producing that chemical. Early time of colonization is helpful for protecting the golden frog, but as time goes chemicals won't produce and the bacteria would not be able to save the golden frog.
Secondly, the breeding of golden frogs in captivity may not be successful because there is a possibility of another infected animal. From the infected animals that live in that captivate areas, the golden frog can be affected.
Thirdly, they are supposed to protect themselves by increasing their body temperature. but heating up their bodies will weaken them because heating up requires more energy. Then the golden frog will die from another disease.
Finally, the ways mentioned in the passage are not effective to overcome the problems of the population of golden frogs.
