Things like puzzles, board games and pictures can contribute to a child’s development. What would you give a child to help him/her develop and why? Give details and examples in your explanation.
Illustrations have been recognized to be one of the most efficacious ways to teach and express one’s view. Tools like puzzles, board games and pictures certainly contributes to a child’s development. It compels one to develop the discerning ability, logical reasoning, and analytical thinking too. I’d also opt for using such tools for my child’s development.
I’d like to give my child the games like puzzles and board games and to be more specific about board games, I’d say chess. The reason I chose puzzles is because it would develop the quality of focusing and concentrating in smaller pictures and ultimately integrate those pictures to see the whole picture. It might sound quite a stretch when we say this, but several studies have proven it to be effective. I’d like to make you aware about the study carried out by a group of Asian Scientists, where they found out that the children who are accustomed to playing puzzles in the childhood later goes on to develop the slightly better mental caliber when compared to their counterparts. They can foresee the consequences of their actions and connect the dots to see the clearer picture.
Secondly, I’d like to involve my child in the board games like chess. This game is a very strategic one. One must properly plan and execute his moves in order to win the game. This will also instill the competitive feeling in the child and would also teach children to think from two perspectives i.e., offensive, and defensive. Furthermore, they will learn that with the balance of both the moves, it’ll inch them closer to the victory. However, they might not win every time but they will learn a lot in this process.
We often undermine the effects and impacts that these games and puzzles would have on children during their development, but I insist to use them during the development stages of the child because the study says the development of brain and understanding usually occurs during the early ages of child. Later they would find it difficult to grasp the new things easily. Therefore, if these tools are used during their early stages of life, it’ll certainly be beneficial for them.
