The reading and the lecture are both about methods to prevent spreading malaria disease. The author of the reading feels that there are some ways to eradicate this disease. The lecturer challanges the claims made by the author. He is of the opinion these theories are falce.
To begin with, the author argues that presicribtion of more powerful drugs facilitate getting cure of patients. If these medications will be given people by strain they have, treating all patients would be possible by targeting medicine about their strains. The lecturer, however, rebuts it by mentioning that within certain time period humans will generate tolerance to these drugs. His thought about it has been profoundly influenced by ineffectiveness of previous drugs, because they do not treat patients anymore.
Secondly, the writer suggests killing mosquitos might be other way to eliminate disease. She offers that by sprays that contain chemicals to kill mosqoitoes and releasing some fish to sea that hunt their larvas would be helpful to decrease number of harmful mosquitoes. This specific arguement is challanged by the lecturer. He claims that because these mosquitoes are not stabile it is hard to reduce them with chemicals. Because of high number of larvas in the sea it is impossible to destroy all of them by foish as well.
Finally, the article posits that sterilizing of male mosquitoes will result declaring their offspring, that is why, spreading of infection will be reduced too, which is proved method on some fruitflies species. In contrast, the lecturer mentions that albeit previous success of thia method on the fruit flyes, the gama radiation cause to seem less atractive appear of males, therefore female mosquitoes do not enter fertilizing process with them. Therefore, this method is also uneffective.
