The given bar chart illustrates the proportion of Canadian workforce in five major industries which are manufacturing, services, agriculture/fishing, construction and energy/water in two separate years, 1850 and 2020.
In 1850, the percentage of Canadian workforce in manufacturing and services were much higher than other industries. About 36% and 33% of Canadian people worked in manufacturing and services respectively. Approximately 22% of Canadians worked in agriculture and fishing. The percentage of Canadian workforce in the remaining industries accounted for only a small fraction of 5% in construction and 3% in energy and water
Roughly 2 centuries later, the percentage of Canadian workforce in services superseded all the remaining industries and became approximately 81%, an increase of almost 50% from the figures of 1850. The proportion of Canadian people worked in construction also increased by 3% to 8% in 2020. In contrast, the percentage of Canadian workforce in manufacturing and agriculture/fishing dropped dramatically from 36% and 22% to onlu 9% and 1% consecutively. Only 1% of Canadian people worked in energy and water.
On the whole, the column graph shows that manufacturing and services were the most popular industries for Canadian people in 1850. However, in 2020, services became the most popular industry.
