Online social platforms held the number one spot throughout the years with 50% in 2016, followed by an insignificant decrease in 2017. The year 2018 witnessed a small rise to 51%. Its percentage had sharply increased by 5% in 2019, from 51% to 56%. Phone calls owned the least proportion of all. Starting with 10% in 2016, it inclined to 13% the next year, which then dropped to 11% in 2018. 2019 saw a huge decline by 6% back to just 5%.
Email took up a quarter in both 2016 and 2017 and one fifth of 2018, then remained nearly the same in 2019. Digital camera first held the 3rd place with 15% in 2016 and 2017. It slightly increased by 3% in 2018, then officially surpassed email to become the 2nd primary purpose for teens.
