Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is important to know about events happening around the world, even if it is unlikely that they will affect your daily life. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
In today's world, numerous significant events unfold daily. Some argue that it is crucial to stay updated on the news, even if it has little impact on our lives. However, I firmly believe that investing time in irrelevant news is unproductive, redundant, and time-consuming.
To begin with, following unimportant news yields no tangible benefits. Gaining knowledge of inconsequential events fails to offer any advantages or opportunities for personal growth. For instance, I have a friend who diligently keeps up with political news, meticulously following the stories surrounding renowned political figures. However, he cannot translate this information into practical benefits as he is not affiliated with any political party or involved in related pursuits.
Furthermore, the advent of digital technology allows us to access important news when it directly affects our lives. Numerous websites archive significant past events, making them easily accessible. When these events hold relevance to our lives, a quick online search provides us with the necessary information. Personally, I hold little interest in political news. Nevertheless, when an election approaches, I can effortlessly retrieve relevant information from the past few years to make informed decisions.
Additionally, immersing ourselves in news that holds no relevance is a wasteful expenditure of time. Certain news may be crucial to specific groups of people but inconsequential to others. For instance, admission dates are of paramount importance to students but hold little significance for working professionals. Moreover, the vast amount of global news available on the internet makes it impossible to consume every piece of information. Engaging in such an endeavor would consume a substantial amount of time that could be better spent on self-improvement and personal growth.
In conclusion, I strongly contend that staying well-informed about every event around the world is not advantageous to our lives. Acquiring knowledge of irrelevant news offers no practical advantages. Instead, we can selectively seek out information when it becomes pertinent to our lives. Furthermore, indiscriminately consuming news from various sources is time-consuming and can impede our personal development. By discerningly allocating our time, we can focus on endeavors that yield tangible returns and promote self-improvement.
