It is substantial that value of clothing exported from Bangladesh increased respectively in the 24-year period. Among the destinations, European Union occupied most of the value.
Export earning from clothes in Bangladesh was nearly 2 billion dollars in 1998. It rose steadily in the following 16 years and tripled to 6 billion dollars in 2004. Since 2004, it grew almost twice as fast as before and reached 20 billion dollars in 2012.
Looking at destinations, European Union imported clothes of 11.38 billion dollars from Bangladesh in 2012, occupying 60% of the total exportation. This is more than the rest of them combined. The statistic for USA is 4.53 billion dollars, or 24%, the second most. The least one is Turkey which imported only 0.36 billion dollars, only 1% of the exportation.
