The table below shows information about the population of New Zealand from 2011 to 2012 by age group

The table illustrates the number of citizens in New Zealand between 2011 and 2012 by 5 different age groups.

What stands out from the graph is that the population of all age groups slightly increased from 2011 to 2012. while the people aged under 39 had a tendency of reduction, there was a sharp increase in the number of people aged over 40. In addition, the group of people from 15 to 39 was the most crowded; whereas the least for the old generation during the same time.

Looking at the graph for more details, the number of citizens of all ages reached 4,381,269 in 2011 then small progress of 4,410,284 was witnessed in the number of that in 2012 and 0,6% was the percentage changed during a year. Similarly, 0,6% also was a change in the 40-64 group, and this group climbed up from 1,331,907 to 1339,898 and it became the second place in 5 different groups. Moreover, the number of 65+ also rose moderately but it is lower than that of the 2 groups above, by 0,4%.

On the other hand, under 15 and 15-39 groups were two groups that have a slight drop during the period shown by 0,2%, nevertheless, after changing, 15-39 was still the highest figure in 2012 with 1,574,102 while the population of under 15 just made up a half as low as a group under 15 with 896,364 at the same time.
