The diagram shows the process for publishing a novel in the traditional way. There are fifteen steps starting with the writer's idea and ending with the published book.
Firstly, the author must produce an idea and write a novel draft. Then the novel is edited by the author and submitted to agents. If any agent is interested in the novel, they contact the author for the rest of the publishing steps.
The novelist signs a contract with the agents and the novel gets edited again with the help of agents. Then the agent sends the novel to the publishing houses and an offer is made by an interested editor. After some negotiations are made about the changes in the novel or problems with the contract, the final draft is designed and copyedited.
Finally, the book is ready to get published. But there is one step left before that, preparing marketing and contacting the booksellers. After those details are done book is finally published and sent to be sold.
