Essay topics:

Some people think that governments should ban dangerous sports, while others think people should have the freedom to do any sports or activity. Which statement do you agree with? Explain your opinion in a paragraph

All sports activities have varying degrees of danger associated with the risk element of getting seriously injured or losing one’s life is quite high. Therefore, some people are of the opinion that the government should ban life-threatening, health-threatening sports while others believe people should have a choice to do any sports or activities. Both sides of the argument have valid points, and in this essay, I will explore both views and give my personal opinion on this matter.
On the other hand, it is also important to recognize the benefits of risky sports. Allowing individuals to make their own decisions about which sports they participate in can lead to a more active and engaged population. People who participate in extreme sports often have a strong passion for the sport, and their enjoyment of it can bring a sense of fulfillment to their lives. Additionally, many of these sports require considerable preparation and training, which can result in physical and mental benefits for the participants.
However, extreme sports not only put participants at a high risk of serious injury but also innocent bystanders and young children. These days, social media platforms are flooded with videos of dangerous sports. These types of videos can be hugely influential, especially for young people who try to imitate the behavior and end up injuring themselves and others.
Moreover, prohibiting risky sports may not solve the problem of safety and may even lead to unintended consequences. For example, in many countries, there is a ban on motorcycles and car racing, but this simply drives it underground, where it is even harder to monitor. This would make it even more difficult to ensure the safety of participants, as they may be engaging in the sport without proper equipment or training.
In conclusion, the debate over dangerous sports is a complex one. I believe the best approach may be to regulate extreme sports, rather than completely prohibit them.
