The reading and the lecture are both about, which is about the possibility of human hospitality on the Venous in the future like Mars. The author of the reading states that the conditions of that plane make this theory impossible, and he presents three reasons to support his view. However, the lecturer casts doubt the claim in the article. He thinks that the conditions on Venous's planets are not life impossible, and scientists can overcome all of them. He explains his idea as the following.
First of all, the author claims that the environmental pressure on that planet's surface is extremely high and above the pressure of the Earth. He believes that every spacecraft destroyed before reaching the ground of the Venous, which makes the probabilities of human crashed, too. The lecturer challenges this point, he says that based on the experiment of one spacecraft station which is 50 km above that planet's atmosphere; however, it does not crash. Furthermore, he points out that the pressure on the ground and beneath that highly level pressure is normal like the earth; therefore, it would be possible to preserve lives on it.
Secondly, the author states that since there is no water or Oxygen in Venous, it is hard to import it from our planet. He argues the presence of only carbon dioxide, and sulfuric acids at that surface are not helpful for people's reservoir. Whereas The lecturer rebuts this argument he believes scientists are now capable of producing the Oxygen from a natural, ordinary chemical reaction between carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid. He suggests that it is not necessary to transfer that gas from the Earth. He elaborates this by mentioning that this chemical reaction is very easy to prepare in Venous's environment.
Finally, the author suggests that the clouds above Venous's climate reflect most of the sunlight. He is of the opinion that without the presence of the sunlight there, it is no life and no way to produce life there under any circumstances The lecturer, on the other hand, states that it is right those clouds are very thick and blocking most of the sunlight, but still our scientists can use sunlight collection from a station above those clouds and He puts forth the idea that collected light would be then reflected back to the surface with the help of the lower atmospheric layer.
In conclusion, the lecturer casts doubt on all the claims of the passage.
