The chart above illustrates the proportion of various kinds of accommodation selected during holiday in 2010 by British people from different regions including England, Scotland, Wale and Northern Ireland.
It can be seen clearly in the chart above that the preference of people from England Scotland and wale are merely the some. Hotel was the most preferred type of accommodation. Varying from approximately 49% to 55% in these three regions, it accounted for almost twice the percentage of people having chosen self-catering. By comparison, caravan and camping were far less preferred by people, ranging from 6% in England to 12% in Scotland(Caravan) and 6% in Scotland to 14% in Wales(Camping) respectively.
One region that shows some difference is Northern Ireland, where Caravan was much often chosen as a dream accommodation(around 30%). Following are self-catering and camping, both around 12%.
In generally, hotel is still the first choice for accommodation for most holidaymakers.
