Integrated essay
The passage mainly explains how the American continent became populated during ice age. This settlement was first happend at today's Canada and then went southward. However, the professor introduces some evidences that undermine such claim.
First of all, the professor points out that the migration across Beringia occured aproximately 11000 to 13000 years ago. However, several older populations lived in other parts of the continent such as east America and south Chili. This is contrary to the claim in the passage that the continent was first populated by the people who came across the Beringia and settled down in the today's Canada region.
Secondly, the professor points out that there are remains that show the people , who lived, in eastern America much more resemble to Japanese or pacifier people than Syberian ones. Thus they were like different colonies of diverse people. This undermines the claim in the passage that says people who came through ice corridor was mainly from north Asia.
Thirdly, the professor mentions that DNA analysis has shown that American settlers with Syberian origin dates back to 14000 years ago while the oldest artifacts remained from New mexico is at most 13000 years old. Thus it is not in consistent with the passage claim that suggests people who gradually occupied the most parts of America was sayberian migrators.
