The lecture indicates that controlling cane toads are not easy to control and the methods that reading mentioned not only were not helpful but also could be harmful for the other species . First, reading says that Australian tried to use fence to prevent of spreading cane toad whereas lecture says that young toads and eggs are living in the streams and rivers and water will carry them through the direction that it goes. so cane toads will spread. in addition young cane toads can go through the fence so this method is totally inefficient. Second, in the reading we read that, Australian asked volunteers to capture the toads and destroy them but the professor said untrained volunteer could not recognize the cane toad from native frogs because when they are so young they are so similar so they destroyed native frogs.Third, reading indicates that researcher used virus against cane toads to control their reproductions but the professor mentioned that spreading virus can cause a lot of disaster in south America when the country imports some species from Australia the remaining virus in the cane toad's body can easily spread to the other toads which is disaster because cane toads are native species in South America.
