Some people believe that pressures of modern life are having negative effects on family life. Do you agree or disagree?
It is noticeably that people feel more stressed in the current life. While some people oppose the view, others, myself included, believe that the happiness of a family is largely affected by the pressures of current life.
There are several reasons why life has become more difficult for parents. Firstly, parental guidance and care are getting harder. Unlike the past, both parents have to work to cope with the higher living standard, so time spent with family members is lesser. As a result, children especially are likely to feel depressed when they do not receive sufficient attention from their parents. To make it worse, most of occupations now require people to work longer. For example, it is common for business staff such as accountants or auditors to stay back to finish their tasks. Furthermore, the higher demanding from employer is another factor. Because of fierce competition in the labour market, many people have to work harder to compete, creating a lot of pressure in their life. Not surprisingly, many people do not find a moment with their family.
Nevertheless, others claim that the entertainments brought by the current technology make life more enjoyable than before. They argue that with scientific inventions such as televisions, video games and computers, people have more options to relax than before, thereby making them feel happier. However, hardly people would have time to relax when they have abundant things to worry. It is because of the higher demands in the present life that makes people feel more stressed compared to the past, affecting the happiness of a family. This is especially true in the city where many people have to struggle to earn a good living.
In conclusion, it is clear about the negative impacts of the pressures of the modern life on family’s happiness. People are advised to have a good time management and balance life and work to handle the stress in life.
