The lecturer raises three arguments to cast doubt on the passage's suggestions that blood vessel remains, red blood cells and collagen matrix have been discovered in the fossil of T.rex.
To begin with, the passage claims that the soft substance in the bone channels are remains of blood vessels. But the professor argues that, since bacteria tend to live inside bones after the death of animals, the soft material is likely to be the traces left by microorganisms.
Secondly, the spherical structure discovered in the T. rex's leg bone have also been discovered in fossils of other species that were too primitive to develop red blood cells. So, the professor asserts that it could be some reddish materials, instead of red blood cells as stated in the passage.
Last, although dinosaurs like T. rex do have had collagen in their tissue, typically it cannot be preserved in fossils for more than 100 thousand years. So the professor is skeptical about the discovery of collagen matrix found in this 70-million-year-old leg bone, and he believes the protein might come from researchers' hands.
In conclusion, based on the reasons and analysis given in the lecture, the three discoveries mentioned in the reading passage concerning the fossil of a T. rex's leg bone are not that plausible.
