At 0 o’clock, English people use around 35,000 units of electricity in winter, the figure for that in summer is approximately 18,000. Electricity usage in winter peaks at 22 o’clock, at over 45,000 units, then go down quickly at the end of the day. The same trend can be seen in summer days, in which demand for electricity hit the top at 23 o’clock and fall quickly afterwards.
In an English household, heating is responsible for the highest electricity expenditure, at 52,5%, compared to only 17,5% used for ovens, kettles, washing machines. Lighting, TV, radio and vacuum cleaners, food mixers, electric tools have the same proportion of electric usage, at 15%, which is the smallest portion.
