The reading and the lecture are both about how to solve the problem of frog distinction. The author of the reading proposes three solutions of this problem. In the lecture the professor casts doubt on each solutions made by the author.
First, the lecturer states that prohibiting pesticide is unfair. She says that this will lead to a big loss in farmers craps which consequently will decrease their yield. This opposes the solution made in the lecture that prohibiting pesticides will help overcome the problem of frog extinction.
Secondly, the professor points out that there are many drawbacks of treating frogs with antifungal individually and persistently. Initially she mentions that it will be unpractical and hard to treat every frog species. Moreover, this treatment should be done on every generation; and that will make the treatment even more complicated and expensive. This disputes the second suggestion made by the author of the article that if frogs receive effective antifungal medication that will prevent them from dying due to infections.
Finally, the lecture puts forth the idea that global warming is the main cause of frog extinction not the natural habitats water. Because of this protecting lakes and will not help decrease the number of frog spices that extinct every year.
In conclusion the professor thinks that the solutions provided in the reading are not practical. She effectively challenged every claims made in the lecture.
