The diagrams below show the changes that have taken place at Queen Mary Hospital since its construction in 1960.
The maps show the developments that occurred at Queen Mary hospital during a 40-year period from 1960 to 2000.
It is clear that the biggest change that happened was the construction of a cancer centre.Additionally, a shopping centre and farmland had completely vanished by 2000.
In 1960, the hospital was located in the south of the main road. There was a shopping centre to the northwest corner, but this centre was demolished in 1980 to make way for a cancer centre and a pharmacy. Farmland was also destroyed and replaced by a nursing school, while a car park in the southeast still existed.
Between 1980 and 2010, the cancer centre was extended, an the nursing school was moved a little to the east, forcing the car park to become smaller. Meanwhile, the pharmacy and the hospital still remained close to the main road.
