The given chart illustrates
The given chart illustrates how many men and women in Britain enrolled in tertiary education in 3 periods and whether their studies were part-time or full-time.
Overall, there were more people studying full-time than part-time in all periods. However, while the number of female students increased remarkably over the periods shown, that of male students decreased moderately.
As for part-time education, the number of men doubled over the 20-year period, rising from 100 thousand in 1970/71 to 200 thousand in 1990/91. The figure for women choosing this path was also approximately 200 thousand, which was substantially higher than the number of 40 thousand in 1970/71.
With regard to full-time courses, there was a considerable growth of 400 thousand in the number of women to 1.1 million, which was the highest quantity in any period for any kind of studying. In contrast, the number of men pursuing full-time studies dropped from 1 million to roughly 800 thousand between 1970/71 and 1980/81, though it then grew slightly to 900 thousand in the next 10 years.
