In the reading passage, the author calims that there are three viable explanations for substutiting the fuel-cell engines with internal combustion engines. However, finding the ideas impausible and qeustionable, the professor casts doubt on what is presented in the text and states the points mentoined in the passage were optimistic. Therefore, she points out some evidence to the contrary.
At first, the author argues that the sources constituting the hydrogen using in fuel-cell engine are accessible in a wide range of forms which are renewable. Conversely, the lecturer brings up that the sources are not as easily available as it was stated in the text. Actually, if the hydrogene is supposed to generate from water, it requires to should be purified which is artificial process. Therefore, the natual form of water is not utilization. Moreover, in order to use water suitable for creating the hydrogene, the advanced labratories will be need that were equiped with technologies to cool the water in substanial lower degree. COnsequently, its usage is not practical so easily.
In addition, the reading passage holds the view that using the fuel-cell engine can solve the air pollution problem since water is the only debri of this device. On the other hand, the lecturer dimisses this idea by clarifying the fact that this assetion is not true since the manufactures producing the hydrogene have no other choice but buring the oil or coal. Thus, although, the hydrogene does not emit contaminated material into atmosphere, the factories producing it do so.
Finally, the author asserts that the cost of fuel-cell engine become reasonable due to people's inclination to use it due to its efficient usage of energy. The lecturer, thought, disputes this idea by subscribing the fact that the the expenditures will be add up owing to saling the constly engines. Indeed, the factories produce these engines should apply petrolium , which is very expensive metal, in order to make the engine having chemical reaction and generate electricity. Having used cheaper metals, the producers did not get desiarbel result; hence, petrolium is their only option. As a result, the mass production os fuel-cell engine will not redice its price.
