The article states that there are several different theories about how agnostides may have lived because the fossil information does not give certain information about how they behaved and provides three different theories. However, the professor states that the theories are seriously weak and refutes each of the author's theories.
The first theory proposes that the agnostides may have been free-swimming predators. In contrast, the professor refutes this theory by stating that being a predator needs well-developed eyes, but the agnostides had poorly eyes. She explains that in order to track the prey they needed to have other sensory organs, but the fossils don not show any evidence about these sensors.
The second theory states that the agnostides may dwelled on the seafloor. However, the lecturer contends that seafloor dwellers are not fast animals and they can not go far distances. She says that they live in localized areas, but the agnostides which were found in different places, indicate that they were pretty fast and able to go large distances.
The Third theory holds the view that the agnostides were parasites. However, the professor casts doubt over this theory and explains that population of parasites animals is not very large because they finally kill their host. She says that the population of the agnostides were very large which refutes this theory.
