The tables reveal the data regarding sales of fairtrade from two products, coffee and bananas, in 1999 and 2004 in five European countries.
It is clear that both UK and Switzerland had the biggest revenue of fairtrade on those products in 2004. While the sales of fairtrade in all countries were increasing, the sales of bananas in Sweden and Denmark were dipping.
Denmark had the biggest sales of coffee in 1999 with 1.8 million of euros and slightly increased by 0.2 million of euroes in 2004. This trend was followed by Sweden. The sales of coffee almost doubled by years in Belgium and Switzerland. Interestingly, the revenue from coffee sales in the UK significantly rose, from 1.5 million of euros in 1999 to 20 million of euros in 2004.
The sales of bananas in Switzerland increased about three-fold into 47 million of euros in 2004 which followed by UK and Belgium that rose from 1 million of euros and 0.6 million of euros respectively to 5.5 million of euros and 4 million of euros respectively. In contrast, the revenue from bananas sales declined into almost halves in both Sweden and Denmark.
