"Also" is used to indicate that there is the second point about which I want to speak.
how should I guide my listener through the speech?

For those transition words like 'also', if possible, don't use them since they may be repeated in other speeches, second, if we have to use them, don't use word stress or sentence stress for them. People will consider it as hesitations. Better to use 'and', and pronounce it lightly.
