The bar chart illustrates the average daily highest and lowest levels of sulfur dioxide and dinitrogen oxide in air of four cities in 2000, measured in microgram per m3.

Overall, while some cities showed diversity range in levels of air pollutants, other just had minor difference between the minimum and maximum levels.

Los Angeles was the least city polluted by sulfur dioxide which ranged from 2 to 10 microgram per m3. There was also a slight difference between sulfur dioxide’s levels in Calcutta, which was 47 and 59 micrograms respectively. By contrast, with 120 micrograms difference, Mexico had the widest range in levels of sulfur dioxide, this city was also the most polluted at 200 micrograms in maximum level.

The figure for minimum dinitrogen oxide in Beijing was the lowest in that level, which was just 4 micrograms per m3, a little lower than half of Calcutta, although its maximum level was 54 micrograms, just slightly higher than 52 micrograms of Calcutta. Furthermore, Mexico City had the highest level of dinitrogen oxide at 207 micrograms per m3, nearly doubled in value of Los Angeles.
