Issue : A nation should require all of its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college.
Children are the future of the nation. Therefore,it is very important that every child has a strong and similar kind of academic base. Education plays an important role in forming child's future. The curriculum therefore be chosen carefully. Here the issue is that until all students enter into the college, a nation should require all students to study the same national curriculum. I agree that there should be similar national curriculum, but upto certain extent. Schools should have some freedom to make some changes in that curriculum.
Same curriculum is benificial for all students for their each academic step. Since this is the era of competition and everywhere students need to compete with each other. For example, entrance test. Generally at college level each student has to take an entrance test to secure the seat. Thinking about this let us take an example of two different students from different cities, studied different curriculum in their school life. So, here entrance test will not be made on similar lines for those students. Hence, it is beneficial to keep the same curriculum to judge student's capabilities in such case.
A common national curriculum ensures a stable and universal learning pattern. It allows making the curriculum familiar nationwide and it becomes easier to refer. Same national curriculum helps those students who changes their schools very frequently. For example, consider the people with transferrable jobs. In this case their children has to change their schools everytime they change the places. If there would not be any common curriculum then it will be difficult for these students to cope up.
However, following the national curriculum, schools should have some freedom to make some changes or to choose the format of the courses it offers. Each student is different and every students interests may vary. So, keeping that in mind curriculum should be modeled to retain student's interest in the study.
In the end I would like to conclude that, uniform curriculum is very important at the national level for every student's academic life. However, schools should not be bounded to follow it blindly. Schools should have little permissions to make some changes into the national curriculum that help students to study.
