The reading and listening sections both elaborate about whether humans can survive or not in the Venus' atmosphere. In the reading section, the author asserts to the claim that life on Venus is difficult, while on the other hand in the listening section, the lecturer refutes this claim of author by providing certain solutions.
The reading passage suggests that the atmospheric pressure on the Venus' surface too high for humans to survive and thus we cannot build a station in such atmosphere, Whereas the lecturer argues that the atmospheric pressure will be low 50kms above the planets surface and we can set up a station floating at that height.
Further the the author of reading section posits that the air of the Venus contains carbon dioxide, nitrogen, sulfur, etc instead oxygen and water which forces us to import water and oxygen from Earth. This claim of author is challenged by the lecturer by pointing out that water and oxygen can be obtained by applying chemical processes on available compounds in Venus' atmosphere rather than having reservoirs of oxygen and water.
Finally the author claims that very less amount of sunlight is passed on to the planet Venus as the planet's atmosphere includes dense clouds which reflect sunlight in large amounts. The lecturer however finds a solution for this problem by claiming that the clouds will be less dense at the height of 50kms and hence station will get significant amount of sunlight and also the reflected sunlight from the clouds below the station, which can be used to generate electricity through solar cells.
