In this set of materials, the author of the reading passage discusses three hypotheses of the edmontosaurus migrated to more warm regions in winter for surviving. However, the professor thinks that the author's theories contain some defects.
First of all, the author claims that in winter the plants didn't grow in Alaska's North Slope, the edmontosaurus need to migrate to more warm place to search the food. On the contrary, the professor indicates that in the past 100 million years, Alaska's North Slope was warmer than today. And there was plenty of sunlight to support the plants to grown. And the plenty of plants can provide enough nutrition to make the edmontosaurus to go through winter.
In addition, the author states that according to the skeleton found showed that the edmontosaurs lived in the herd. And many modern-day migratory animals live and migrate in heads as well. However, the professor asserts that not all animals live in heads means they are migratory animals and use an elk as an example.
Finally, the author raises the point that the ability of the edmonosaurs' physical can approach long distances. They can easily move far distances during the harsh climate. On the other hand, the professor refutes the author's idea by explaining that the juvenile edmonsaurs were not able to move that far distance at all. And adult edmonsaurs were impossible ditched the juvenile alone forewards to warm territory.
