Frist of all, the lecture has defect what the author stated that genetic technology help shorten the time of natural selection, development of the better crop. In reality, genes take to hundreds and thousand of years to change with a lot of challenge and effects from the environments. Therefore, better crops which results from better genes cannot be development in a matter of time
The second point from the writing assures the safety of the genetic modification food. The professor refute this view by providing fact of current practice. There is hardly any public peer review on these kind of food products because of competition. Company's research often being kept secret so competition can not make copy.
Finally, the lecture question the ability genetic modified food can help underdeveloped country to prevent the food shortage and famine. These countries as struggle as the are, these country can hardly have access to the infrastructure of creating genetic modification technology. Also, these kind of food are consider higher price in the market. This cannot be a stable solution solve the food shortage and prevent famine.
