Both the writing and the professor lecture is discussing the question of if dinosaurs were endotherm animal. While the scientist in the writing provide reasons to support that dinosaurs were endotherms, the professor argues otherwise. The controversial topic has three main points as below.
First of all, the professor leans to the side that even though dinosaur lived through the polar era, the temperature was warmer than it is nowadays. This has proved the reason from the writing to be wrong as they believe if polar era was cold while dinosaur can live through lead to the chance that they were endotherms. However, warmer temperature as information provided from professor has proved this point invalid.
The professor also questions the supporting fact of legs position. The scientist believe that leg positioning under the body is the feature of high energy endotherm animal with lots of running. However, professor strongly believes the reason for this leg positioning is to support the animal body weight. Therefore, the reason behind natural section make leg position here is not necessary to list dinosaur as endotherms
The last point discussed was the about their bones structure. Even though Haversian canals is the feature of endotherm as found in dinosaur bone structure. However, the professor points out a more visible bone structure, which is the growth rings, to specify reptile. Growth rings has shown the growth rate of dinosaur was depended on the temperature which identified them more of reptile.
